 Waltz (Slow Waltz)
Waltz evolved from a German and Austrian peasant dance called the Landler. It was the first popular dance to use a closed hold and so was considered "scandalous" when it first debuted. It is very slow and beautiful, characterized by rise and fall and a smooth gliding look, with stately and elegant postures and poses and highly stylized movements. The dancers seem to pose as if for pictures.
