 Merengue
Coming to New York from the Dominican Republic, the basic step of Merengue can be learned quickly and easily and the dancers can look great on the dance floor in no time. The upper body moves in opposition to the lower body and together with correct footwork and legwork creates the body action known as Cuban motion for a beautiful and sensual contrast. Merengue music is often quite fast while the dance itself often employs slower turns and moves that offer a beautiful counterbalance. Turns from other dances such as Salsa and Cumbia can easily be incorporated into your Merengue routines.
